99 days and counting……

Fall Leaves CalendarIn 99 days, it will be the start of the year 2010!!!! Can you believe it? Remember when that seemed like such a long ways of?

How will 2010 find your business?

If you don’t know, then now is the time to begin thinking about it and taking steps to ensure it finds it the way you want it to. Will you have met  your goals for 2009? If not, why not? What are you goals for 2010?

Here are a few things you should be paying attention to now if you want to greet 2010 with a smile :-)   or, you can ignore the opportunity to take action now then be filled with regret when you realize you let it slip away………..again!!!!

  • GOALS: Review the goals you set for 2009 and do an honest assessment, then identify the goals you have for 2010.
  • TAXES: Tax information (read  Home BusinessTAX Deductions: Keep What You Earn or TAX Savvy for small business to help you get you affairs in order for tax time)
  • ORGANIZATION: Have you been putting of “de-cluttering” your office? Now is a great time to take a break and revisit this important task, in preparation of have a “new beginning” in 2010. Take the S.C.O.R.E. quiz to see if “stuff” has taken over our office then visit Closet Entrepreneur for some great tips.
  • BUSINESS/INDUSTRY INFORMATION: Subscriptions (are any up for renewal at this time and if so have you budgeted for paid renewals of any that you intend to keep)
  • ACCESS INFORMATION: Do you have all of your online access information in one place that is readily accessible? (download my free ACCESS KEEPER)
  • NETWORKING: Do you have a list of all of your social networks, online memberships etc. and do you have a plan for maximizing them in 2010?   Take a look at my SOCIAL NETWORKING STRATEGY GUIDE if you are looking to refine or have social networking as a goal for 2010.
  • HEALTH: Do you have a “home office health” plan? If not, I highly recommend that you take the time to create one, that directly incorporates your work habits. e.g  if you work at home, how often do  you get up from your desk and walk around? Is your office equipment/set-up good for your posture?  Is your chair right for you? etc.
  • FUN: OK we all know the saying “all work and no play makes Jane a very dull girl!” If you are not already making time for some down/fun time, I urge you to do include this as a goal for 2010 and, plan for it. I guarantee you that you will feel better, enjoy work more and wonder why you have not done this before! Here is my list of favorite things to do for fun which I include in my schedule (daily, weekly or monthly):
    1. Take a swim before dinner
    2. Play a game (or several) of falling gems on my IPod touch if my food consumption does not take my full lunch hour
    3. Instead of a “water-cooler” break, take a few minutes each day to check my bird feeder and walk around outdoors.
    4. Take my husband to lunch away from the house.
    5. Go to a movie alone
    6. Meet a girlfriend for a day of “just hanging”.
    7. Check out You Tube for funny videos
    8. Play Wii games with my hubby.

Obviously this is by no means exhaustive but I believe it is a good place to start and wish you much success as you look to the future!
